Resource for Toddlers, Preschoolers and School Age

by Carly Lloyd on July 14, 2009

I’m almost 100% certain that every child knows ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle.

Here are some fantastic resources to accompany the beautiful book.

- Felt Board Pieces [two years +] -
You will need a felt board. I found they worked best when I laminated them and attached a velcro dot on the back.
Go here for the templates and you can choose black and white [which allows your children to colour in] or colour.

- Story Sequence [three/four years +] -
I used this with 4-5 year olds and had them cutting and pasting them out also. Worked fantastic. For three year olds [if they loved the story] you could just give them the sequencing picture [pre-cut] and they could just order.
Go here for the stencils and some added activities.

I grabbed all this information from dltk-teach.com and there are some extra activities related to butterflies and caterpillars if you continue to scroll.

Enjoy!
